Discover more about the College of Engineering and the studios, classrooms, labs, and study spaces where students learn, explore, and create for the common good: the Duderstadt Center, the Chrysler Building, the Bob and Betty Beyster Building, the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Building (EECS), plus Lurie Tower in the Grove.
The Duderstadt Center opened in 1996 as a place to provide faculty and students with the tools and collaborative space for creating the future. Located on North Campus, "The Dude" is home to the Art, Architecture, and Engineering Library; the College of Engineering Computer Aided Engineering Network (CAEN); the Digital Media Commons; and the Millennium Project, and provides a nexus for creative and technological innovation across disciplines.
Part of the College of Engineering, the Chrysler Center houses the Engineering Career Resource Center (ECRC) and other College administrative offices.
Completed in 2005 and built with alumni funds, the Beyster Building is the home of the Computer Science & Engineering division, and a destination for events on North Campus. Featuring a spacious four-story atrium along with 100,000 square feet of lab, office, and meeting space, the Beyster Building encourages and precipitates interaction, creativity, and collaboration.
The Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Building is home to Electrical & Computer Engineering faculty and staff.
Located on North Campus, the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Carillon was built in 1996. A gift to the School of Engineering from the Robert and Ann Lurie Family Foundation, it contains 60 bells, with the lowest bell (bourdon) weighing 6 tons. The Royal Eijsbouts Bell Foundry of Asten, The Netherlands, cast the bells. The tower was built to the design of Charles Moore (AB 1947, Hon Arch Ph.D. 1992) and Arthur Anderson.
The Walter E. Wilson Student Team Project Center meets a critical need by providing students with dedicated space and facilities for teams to compete nationally and internationally.
Opened in 2021, the Ford Robotics building is the home of Michigan Robotics. The 134,000-square-foot, four-story complex houses classrooms, offices, a cafe, and a startup-style open collaboration area and tailored lab space for a variety of robotic technologies.
